The founder of Tourtour Fossil Museum, Victor Zaneboni was first interested in botany, and while out walking he began to collect « his stones » imprinted with the past.
An ardent amateur, he studied paleontology for 20 years in order to be able to interprete and list his many discoveries. One kind of ammonites actually bears his name.
Phylloceras zanebonii (Cretaceous period)
The Museum opened in 1978 following the generous donation of the collection to the village of Tourtour.

You will discover a variety of specimens during your visit.
Here is a list of examples :
Ammonites, Belemnites, Nautiloïdes.
Gasteropodes, Brachiopodes, Echinodermes, Ostreides.
